Welcome to our monster pinata party.
Every party I en script my husband into painting some kind of photo board. This year I asked for two. As always he did an awesome job.
The main attraction.
With one $9.99 soccer ball pinata and the tutorial on giddy giddy in less than an hour I had my monster pinata. I called him "Buster" Then add 15 kids and a DIY wooden hatchet....
Buster, emptied of his glory and candy. Yum! Two nights before the party my husband fell asleep early and left me with a soccer ball and a pack of red tissue paper. I had no idea what to do. First I picked off the black octagons thinking I could at least use the white ball as a base for something. Then I turned to the web for some inspiration and found giddy giddy. The strips of cut tissue in her tutorial were a quick and easy way to go. With elmer's glue they easily shaped to the ball. I was finished in less than and hour. I thought it came out cute. I kind of miss his smiling face.
Some of the things for the party, I actually left myself enough time to do, and enjoy. The felt finger puppets for one. I like to embroider so I hand stitched about 50 of them over three or four nights. The kids had a lot of fun with these. Though most of them glued the popsicle sticks I left for dipping into glue into the puppets. I slightly different craft I hadn't thought of. Still puppets.
We also made monster masks. I was happy that the crafts held their own against the dinosaur jumper. The kids ended up splitting their time between crafting and jumping, jumping, jumping.
For the treat bags I originally wanted to make mini pinatas from a tutorial on Not Martha and put monster faces on them but I didn't have enough time. So, I made these felt monster bags. The first ten were fun... then I just wanted to go to bed but I needed eight more! I was up to midnight the night before another birthday. That's four years running. It was worth it. We had a lot of fun.
